Since the turn of the decade, Colombia has become a much safer place for non-natives to visit.  This, along with recent media attention by way of Hollywood narcos films and TV series, has caused tourism to skyrocket in recent years.  Unfortunately, many still view Colombia primarily as a drug capital, forgetting the most beautiful pieces of the country's rich and colorful history.  The coffee-growing region is a good example.  

Many know that coffee is a top Colombian exports, however the zona cafetera - where the beans are grown - is often overlooked.  The high elevations, rich volcanic soil, and abundance of banana and rubber trees make for ideal coffee-growing conditions, and a fantastic setting for adventure.
